a. Note:   N23 When half-sister Anna came to New York, she listed her brother Schmuel as the person she would be living with. His address on the manifest was 229 E. 10th Street. The 1910 Census shows he was living at 120 Sutter Avenue, Brooklyn, NY.
  Samuel was a tailor in Akron in 1917 working at 866 Johnston and resided with his wife Rebecca at 1022 Leroy Ave.
  According to Ben Ovshinsky, Samuel (then known as Schmuel) moved from Akron, Ohio to Los Angeles, California at the end of March or beginning of April 1941. This is from a deposition taken in support of Samuel’s PFN.
  Samuel wrote a letter dated 9/5/1942 to his nieces and nephews in Argentina. The letter is in Yiddish and Betty Gusis has sent me a photocopy as well as a translation into English. Samuel refers to himself as “Shimilik“ in Yiddish. He writes that he is a tailor.
  Samuel and Rebecca’s headstone has his birthdate as “Jan. 1, 1881”.
