Notes
a. Note:   N27 Living at 3174 Blanchard St., Los Angeles and working as an ice cream salesman in 1930 Census. First name listed as Solomon. "Saul was the black sheep of the family and no one kept in touch with him except my Aunt Esther, who is long dead. I think Saul must be dead for many years already." from Charlotte Leib's e-mail May 11, 2003. 1910 Census shows him being born in Russia but 1930 Census has New York.
From e-mail received 4/25/09 from Brian Neil Burg from Fullerton, CA: "I learned that he changed his name to Robert S. Moore, and I have found two Robert Moore's in the SSDI who were born in March 1903, one on March 10 and the other on March 23. You show a birthdate of March 13th, so it is not clear if either of the ones I found could be the same as Solomon Munitz."
According to his daughter Shirley, Sol met her only twice, and abandoned her mother and the girls. Shirley told me that her mother Minnie eventually saved up enough money to legally divorce her husband. Sol went to Washington D.C. and got an audience with the President by representing the Lions Club.
From great nephew Sam Leib on 9/27/2010: "my mother's father, Ben Munitz's, brother (who was Auntie Minnie's -also known as Minnie Moo- first husband and the father of Estabelle, Shirley and Bea) was a con man who once claimed he was the president of some veteran's group and, lore has it, that he fraudulently presented Eisenhower [sic] with some kind of award." The photograph (taken on May 29, 1945) acually shows President Truman accepting an award of a desk set from “Robert S. Moore”, allegedly on behalf of the Heart of Kansas City Lions Club.
Solomon served time in the Ohio State Reformatory (#16720), in the Michigan State Prison (#20017), at California State Prison at Folsom beginning 2/7/1930 (#16111) for petit theft and two prior convictions (0-5 years), and again (#19496) on 1/11/1935 for forgery (1-14 years).
On 12/3/18, I found a newspaper clipping from the Akron Beacon Journal of June 14, 1919. This clipping tells the story of Solomon being charged with unlawful marriage while only 16 years old, and gives interesting details on what led up to the court appearance.
