Author:   Richard Munitz
Text:   Regarding my father’s name: I see in my version of the tree that he is listed as “Bennard” my Samuel’s DI form. I think this is one of those errors that comes from my grandfather always referring to my father as Baruch and then some attempt to create an English version of the name and then some transcription errors (?) by whoever did the documents. (Lots of errors like this seem to find their way into Census forms.)
So…my father NEVER changes his name. To me it was always “Ben” and “Bennie”..

Notes
a. Note:   N6 SS # 389-09-4705. Ben was a taxi cab driver living at 339 and 1/2 North Mott Street in 1930 Census. Born 1/1/1908 in Irv's tree, but headstone says 1907. Living at 3173 N. 38th St. in Milwaukee, WI for 1940 Census. Called “Rennard" on father Samuel's DI and PFN and "Benny" on 1920 Census.
I asked Benjamin’s son Richard Munitz: “Your father is listed in the Tree as Benjamin (Baruch) Munitz, but on your grandfather Samuel’s Petition for Naturalization, his son’s name is given as “Rennard”. When did his name change? On his marriage license, it’s shown as “Bennie”, and on daughter Charlotte’s birth certificate, it’s “Bernard”.
He replied, “Regarding my father’s name: I see in my version of the tree that he is listed as “Bennard” my Samuel’s DI form. I think this is one of those errors that comes from my grandfather always referring to my father as Baruch and then some attempt to create an English version of the name and then some transcription errors (?) by whoever did the documents.
