  BIOGRAPHY: ROSE was born on the family farm north of Albion and attended District 7 school and the parochial school in Petersburg, Nebraska. She also attended Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa in 1918, where she stayed with her Aunt Josephine Abeln Majerus. After completing school she worked for a short time as a secretary in Apts warehouse in Columbus. She returned to Albion where she worked in Carlson's Dry Goods Store for two years until she was married in 1922 to Leonard Getzfrid. Leonard had lived with his parents on a farm four miles south of Albion where he attended country school. Rose and Leonard moved to a rented farm six miles south and one mile west of Albion where they lived until 1943 when they purchased a farm nine miles straight south of Albion in the Plum Creek valley. They lived there until November 1965 when they sold the farm and purchased a home in Albion.
