Note: The 20 A. plot, Hendrick Fine [brother of Hester?], Blacksmith of Flatbush, bought April 12, 1736, for 200 pounds, of Paulus Vandervoort, measurer, and Jannetie, his wife, of Brouckland. They were sponsors for the baptism of Peter, s/o Peter Vandewater and Aagje de Lang, on 16 Oct 1759 The 1731 census lists 2 daughters, no sons. I am presuming they had 2 children, but one was misrecorded. Paul Vandervoort was a witness to the will of Joris Adriance of Rumbout Disctict, Dutchess Co., NY on 1 Aug 1758. Abstracts of Wills, Liber 21, page 124 Van de Voort, Jacob; 1767-1775, 1777-1779 son of Jan & Magdalena Van den Voorst, Powell; 1747, 1748, 1753-1763 son of Jan & Magdalena Van de Voort, John; 1758-1763, 1765-1771 son of Paul/Powell Van der Voort, John, Jr; 1763, 1772-1775, 1777 son of John, s/o Paul Van der Voort, Lambert; 1772-1775 son of John, son of Paul Van der Voort, Paul, Jun.; 1772-1775, 1777 son of John, son of Paul Vandewater, Jacobus, 1745-48,53-63,65-66 b/o of Jannetje VDV Van Dewater, Lovinas; 1759-63, 1772-75 s/o Jacob Vandewater Vandewater, Peter; 1747,48,53-63,65-75,77-79 s/o Jacob Vandewater VandeWater, Benjamin; 1767-1775, 1777-1779 "Eighteenth Century Records of the portion of Dutchess County, New York that was included in the Rombout Precinct and the original Town of Fishkill," collected by William Willis Reese, President of the Dutchess County Historical Society and edited by Helen Wilkerson Reynolds, from Collections of the Dutchess County Historical Society, Volume 6, 1938. Published by the Society. This list gives the names of taxpayers of the South Ward from January 1717/1718 through February 1737/1738; of the "Fishkills prisings" in February, 1738/1739, and February 1739/1740; and of Rombout Precinct from February 1740/1741 through 1779, lacking only seven years. The volume which contained the lists for 1749, 1750, 1751, 1752 has been lost. The lists for 1764 and 1776 were not entered. In 1777, 1779, 1780 all lists were not filed for each year but the list for Rombout Precinct was omitted only in 1780. http://www.teachout.org/du/nan/rombout.html Also: Mortgage # 98, page 143 Dated 5 Jun 1771 Mortgagor: Cornelius Van Wyck Mortgagee: Executors of the estate of Theodorus Van Wyck mentions land adjoining John Vandervoort and another parcel adjoining the house of Powell Vandervoort. These references appear to be to John Vandervoort and his father, Paul Vandervoort. Paul Vandervoort does not appear on the tax lists after 1763, but since the reference only mentions his house, it may be he had sold/given most of his property away. The last tax list John Vandervoort appears on is in 1771. I also reveiwed a film of abstacts of deeds from Fishkill, Dutchess, NY There were no deeds to or from Vandervoorts. I saw Jacob Vandervoort as a witness for a deed in 1774, but that was it. The other thing I noted was a deed of Abraham Losee and his wife, Neeltje. This is likely the same person as Abraham L. Losee of the tax lists in Fishkill. If true, this Abraham Losee is not the son-in-law of Paul and Jannetje Vandervoort.
