Boswyck 1701 Genealogy of the Lefferts Family, 1650-1718, pg 29 April 28, 1716, for 36 pounds, he [Jacobus Lefferts of Brooklyn] bought of Jan Vandervoort of Brooklyn, No. 31 in the 2nd division. 1738 Bookland, Kings Co. Census (taken in 1731) Jan Vandervoort 5 1 5 0 0 0 0 0 Presumed residents Jan, Sr. Michael Abraham Jacob Charles, brother of Jan, Sr. his son, Jan Magdalena, his wife. Adrianna Magdalena Maria, wife of Charles Daughter? Charles & Maria had a son, Jan, baptized in 1731, but nothing more is known of Charles or Maria. Magdalena, wife of Jan, was baptized in 1676. In 1731 she was 55. Though possible, it is unlikely she had a son under 10 years old. His son, Paul, is listed separately in the census. Jan Jr. was also married and had 2 sons under 10, though one may haved died by this time. He is probably the Jan Vanderwort of Flatbush. Michael, son of Michael and Styntje Schamps Vandervoort. Where is he? Apprentice? Paul Vandervoort, brother of Jan, had apparently moved to Queens by 1731, subscribing the the DRC there in 1731. New York Genenalogical and Biographical Rrecord, by Macy, Harry Jr., and Henry B. Hoff, 1738 Census` of Kings County Was Actually Taken in 1731 123:85-86. I do not think the following DRC NA record refers to a daughter of Jan Vandervoort: 1715 Jul 20; Johannes Pouwelse, Antje Huysman; Magdalena; Barent de Freest, Maria Ten Yk wife of Jurian Witvelt possible baptismal record at DRC of Flatbush 1678 Apr 01; ; Jan; Jeronymus and Catelyntie Rapelye.[maternal uncle & aunt] He may be the Jan Vanderoort listed in the inventory of Benjamin Burt of Somerset Co., NJ with a debt in 1731. None of the Vandervoorts are listed in 1713 Brooklyn Freeholders & Inhabitants.
