Note: 1851: Curtis and family move to Alabama about 1851-1852. Curtis and Gatsey's 9th child, William L., is born 10/1853. William is enumerated in the 1860 Dale County, Alabama census as being (the first) born in Alabama. 1867: 'In 1867, Curtis Ivey and his family traveled via boat to New Orleans and Monroe, La., and by wagons to Minden, La. With Curtis and his family; Zachary Kea and his family; Winifred and her sons John and William W. and his family; Mary Ann's sons; Thomas; and Leonard Kinchen Mozingo and his family. Mary Ann lost one child at sea during the trip. There were about 50 men, women, and children in the party.'
