Note: 1810's: 'Johnson family tradition is that seven siblings, 5 brothers and 2 sisters, came to western Kentucky from North Carolina. They possibly came with the Nichols-Early-Price families of about 50-60 people, probably about 1812.' (one ninth part-his share) of all the lands of James Johnson, Deceased, in Green and Lenoir Co., NC; on Faling (Falling) Creek. 1813: Jesse Skinner of Christian County, Kentucky received power of attorney from John Johnson of Caldwell County, Kentucky to collect $200 from Benjamin Skinner of South Carolina; dated 9/1813. 1820: Robert Johnston, 3-0-0-0-1;0-2-0-1-0: enumerated in the Hopkins County, Kentucky census, image 12 of 22, electronic. sequence: Samuel Johnston, ROBERT JOHNSTON, Gideon James, Nathan Jenkins, John Johnston. 1820-22: 'Three brothers, Samuel, Robert, and Issac; sons of James from North Carolina, left Kentucky and came to Illinois.' [from 'A History of Some Southern Illinois Counties' and 'History of Gallitin, Sabine, Hamilton, Franklin, and Williamson Counties, Illinois.'] 1830: John W Key and family enumerated in the Morgan County, Illinois census, page 109; ten (10) households from William and Peter Scholl.
