Note: 1825: Zachariah states: 'I was born 2/11/1825 in Darlington County, South Carolina.' [from his CSA Pension file #4124, dated 8/3/1907] 1830: Zachariah is 1 of 3 males age 5 and under 10 in the Darlington County census. 1836: (1) Lanie Kea appointed Executrix of Estate of Thomas Kea, Deceased, on March 4, 1836. (2) Curtis Ivey Kea was named Guardian ad Litem for the eight minor children of Thomas Kea, Deceased: Nancy, age 18; Delilah, age 17; James, age 16; ZACHARIAH, age 11; John W., age 9; William, age 6; Margaret E., age 3, and Thomas, age five months; document dated March 4, 1836. 1840: Zachariah's brother, Curtis Ivey and family recorded in the Darlington County, S.C., US census of 1840. (3 males, 3 females: Curtis, (age 28); his wife Gatsey, (age 23); children Francis Albright, (age 6); Nicey, (age 4); Hannah, (age 1); and probably his brother ZACHARIAH, (age 15).) 1840's: Zachariah's sister, 'Liley,' and John Alexander moved to Henry Co., Alabama after 1840, where his brother James Alexander was, however, they returned to SC in 1849. John was a Methodist minister on the Lamar Circuit. 1842: 'When Melissa Shirley was 16, her family left South Carolina in a wagon train; with families: Wingates', Shirleys', Kelleys', Loves', Johnstons', Keys', Herndons', Chanceys', Osteens', Wards', Rallings', and Hudsons'. The Wingates and Hudsons left the wagon train in Georgia, and the remaining families moved to Pike County, Alabama.' D. The 57th was organized in March, 1863, at Troy, in Pike County, Alabama. The 57th was in the Dalton-Atlanta Campaign, (Battle of Peach Tree Creek); also in North Carolina, at Bentonville, where it surrendered.] LFK Note: Zachariah did not serve in the Virginia campaigns. 1865: In a letter Zachariah wrote on Sept 15, 1907, he stated: 'I enlisted at Echo, Alabama, and left there Feb 15, 1863 and went to Pollard, Alabama. In the spring of 1864, the 57th was attached to Gen. Tom Scott's Louisiana Brigade. I served in the campaigns from Rosaca to Atlanta, when Gen. Hood made his Tennessee Campaign. I was with the Army until we crossed the Tennessee River in January, 1865. My foot was cut severely there on an axe; as I had been without shoes for nearly a year. I was sent to Shelby Springs (Alabama) Hospital, then sent home from there in Febuary, 1865. I was at home (Echo, Dale County) when the war ended.' [from his CSA pension file #4124] 1865: Zachariah's second marriage to Mrs. Eliza Miller Woodham, widow of Richard Edward Lee Woodham, 7/1865. [married in Newton, Dale County, Alabama] 1865: Richard Edward Lee Woodham, the son of Frederick and Mary Ann Pollard Woodham, was a great-grand son of Edward Woodham, Jr., had a Bible with Zachariah Kea family members referenced also. After Richard Woodham died in the War for Southern Independence, Zachariah Kea married his widow, Eliza A Miller Woodham. The Bible later became known as the 'Zachery R. Kea Bible,' however, it actually belonged to Richard Woodham. After Zachariah married Eliza, the Bible was used for recording Kea family records. (The Bible record was published in the Summer-1980, by the Northeast Louisiana Genealogical Society, PO Box 2743, Monroe, Louisiana, 71207.) At the time, the Bible was owned by M. T. Matthews, of West Monroe, Louisiana. 1865: 'Zachariah stated that he moved to Louisiana in the winter of 1865, and lived in Webster Parish since its organization in 1871.' [from his La., CSA pension file.] 1867: 'In 1867, Curtis Ivey and his family traveled via boat to New Orleans and Monroe, La., and by wagons to Minden, La. With Curtis and his family; Zachary Kea and his family; Winifred and her sons John and William W. and his family; Mary Ann's sons; Thomas; and Leonard Mo(n)zingo and his family. Mary Ann lost one child at sea during the trip. There were about 50 men, women, and children in the party.' ['Eleven Generations'] 1867: "Shortly after the civil war, the family left Dale County, Alabama in covered wagons and went to Elba, Alabama. From Elba by boat to New Orleans. From New Orleans to Shreveport, Louisiana by boat on the Red River. The trip took 2 months."
