Note: 1820: Thomas Kea, with family of six, was listed in 1820 Darlington Dist., S.C., US Census; Two Males: one aged < 10 yrs [Curtis Ivey]; one aged 26 - < 45yrs (between 1775 - 1794 [Thomas] ; Four Females: three aged < 10 yrs [Mary Ann, Winniford, Nancy]; and one aged 16 - < 26 yrs ['Lanie']. [William Wylie-1; Thomas-4; James E.-8; Kinchen-33; Elleby-6; Eliza-7; Mary Ann-26.] 1840: Mary Ann's brother Curtis Ivey and family recorded in the Darlington County, S.C., US census of 1840. (3 males, 3 females: Curtis, (age 28); his wife Gatsey, (age 23); children Francis Albright, (age 6); Nicey, (age 4); Hannah, (age 1); and probably his brother Zachariah, (age 15).) 1840's: Mary Ann's sister, 'Liley,' and John Alexander moved to Henry Co., Alabama after 1840, where his brother James Alexander was, however, they returned to SC in 1849. John was a Methodist minister on the Lamar Circuit. 1842: 'When Melissa Shirley was 16, her family left South Carolina in a wagon train; with families: Wingates', Shirleys', Kelleys', Loves', Johnstons', Keys', Herndons', Chanceys', Osteens', Wards', Rallings', and Hudsons'. The Wingates' and Hudsons' left the wagon train in Georgia, and the remaining families moved to Pike County, Alabama.' [memoirs of Lillie Ruth Wingate McCaskill] Melissa's 2nd marriage was William Key, brother of Mary Ann Kea Monzingo, in 1860. 1843: Mary Ann's sister, Nancy (Barnes) and family move to Dale County, Alabama about 1843. 1850: Mary, age 46, Darlington Co., S.C., or Clairbone Parish, La., census? 1850: Mary's brother Curtis (spelled Kean) Kea and family, recorded in the 1850 Darlington County, SC census; Curtis, 37; Gatsey, 33; Francis, 16; Nicey, 13; Hannah, 11; Margaren, 8; Thomas, 6; Helen, 4; Dora A., 2. [page 279, dated 8/2/1850, lines 6-14]. The John and Leonora O'Kelley family recorded on Lines 18-26. [Mary's brother, the James Kea family recorded on page 337B, lines 26-31.] [Mary's sister, Winniford Kea Hicks, and family, recorded on page 327, lines 6-11.] 1850: Calvin and Nancy Barnes are not recorded in the 1850 Dale Co., Alabama census. 1856: Kinchen Mozingo, husband of Mary Ann Kea, sold 250 acres on Chesterfield Road to Stephen Woodham on November 27, 1856. 1857: The Kinchen Mozingo family listed as residents of Claiborne Parish, Louisiana; page 21, Book 3; on January 1, 1857. 1858: Mary Ann's brother, Curtis Ivey and his family moved to Dale Co., Alabama, probably in the Fall-Winter of 1858. Curtis J Kea land transaction for 160.12 acres; Elba land office; dated 11/1/1858; Vol. 065. Did Mary Ann's sister Winniford and her family move to Alabama with her brother, Curtis? 1860: Mary Ann's brother William and his wife Melissa (Shirley) are recorded with her father in the 1860 Pike County, Alabama census; Orion Post Office, page 152, dated 9/4/1860. In the census, William is recorded as age 29, born in South Carolina, occupation: Dentist. "As a young man in SC, William studied and practiced Dentistry." [Louisiana census states Mary Ann's father was born in North Carolina, and her mother was born in South Carolina.] 1867: 'In 1867, Curtis Ivey and his family traveled via boat to New Orleans and Monroe, La., and by wagons to Minden, La. With Curtis and his family; Zachary Kea and his family; Winifred and her sons John and William W. and family; Mary Ann's sons, Thomas and (Joshua) Leonard Mozingo and family. Mary Ann lost one child at sea during the trip. There were about 50 men, women, and children in the party.' [also includes G P Chalfant, Kinchen's daughter Winnifred; and their 3 children.] 1886: Mary Ann's daughter Lucy is married to Elvarius Culver in Trinity County, Texas. 1891: Mary Ann died at the home of her daughter, Elleby Mozingo Culver, at Arlington, Texas. ['Eleven Generations,' Green] 1891: 'I couldn't find Mary Ann Kea buried in the Arlington Cemetery. Her daughter-in-law, Mary's (illegible Monzingo) 1916 headstone is located next to her husband, Thomas; Mary's obit said she was interred in Arlington (now Parkdale) Cemetery.'
