Note: 1859: Curtis and Gatsey's 11th child, John Wesley Kea., is born 5/16/1859, in Dale County, Alabama. The first child born in Alabama, John would move to California after 1880 and change his name to John Wallace McKea. [John stated he was born in Mobile, Alabama; from 'The Timberman' September, 1940] 1860: Curtis Key and family (son John W., age 1, ( he was 1 yr, 2 mo, 7 days old; as of census date 7/23/1860 ), enumerated in the Newton, Dale Co., Alabama census, July 23, 1860, page 568, image 72 of 264, hh #487, electronic. 1867: 'In 1867, Curtis Ivey and his family traveled via boat to New Orleans and Monroe, La., and by wagons to Minden, La. With Curtis and his family; Zachary Kea and his family; Winifred and her sons John and William W. and his family; Mary Ann's sons; Thomas; and Leonard Kinchen Mozingo and his family. Mary Ann lost one child at sea during the trip. There were about 50 men, women, and children in the party.'
