a. Note:   1780: Leonore's father, James Johnson listed on Dobbs County, NC, 1780 Taxlist. The property is located in Taylor District, now Lenoir County, on the South side of Lower Falling Creek. James Johnson recorded with Edward Woodham, Sr., and Benjamin Skinner, in the vicinity of present day La Grange and the Institute community.
  1790: James (Johnston) and family enumerated in the Dobbs County, NC census; 1 male, &gt16; 2 males, &lt16; 4 females. page 135, electronic. (1-2-4, three males and four females.)
  1790: John (Johnston) and family enumerated in the Sampson Co., NC census, page 52, electronic. (1-3-4, four males and four females.) 1 male, head of household; 3 males less than 16; 4 females.
  1800: A descendent of one of LEONORE's brothers, Garnett Johnson, of Kentucky, identified Thomas Kea as the husband of Leonore Johnson, son of Robert Kea, who lived in old Dobbs Co., NC, in the same vicinity as James Johnson in the 1770's. The Johnson family moved to Darlington Dist., SC in early 1800's, then to Webster Co., Kentucky about 1815. One Johnson sister, Leonore, did not go - she married Thomas Kea.
  1810: 'William Thomas Key reached Charleston, South Carolina in late 1810. Thomas married De Laney Schonsen in 1811.' [Eleven Generations,' page 3]
  1812: 'Johnson family tradition is that seven siblings, 5 brothers and 2 sisters, came to western Kentucky from North Carolina. They possibly came with the Nichols-Early-Price families of about 50-60 people, probably about 1812.' [Some Webster County, Kentucky Families, by Bassett, 1983]
  1812**: Thomas Kea purchased his first land tract, 54 acres, from Vincent Delk** on January 14, 1812, near Lynches Creek, adjacent to William Mozingo**. He also purchased 3 tracts of land on Sparrow Swamp, from brothers Frederick and Benjamin Skinner, in 1813, 1816, and 1819. The land was adjacent to William Mozingo**, near Lynches Creek.
  c. 1812: Thomas and Leonore Johnson marry; their first child is born December 23, 1812; a son, Curtis Ivey.
  1813: Thomas Kea and Leonore Kea sells to Benjamin Skinner, Sr., (one ninth part-her share) of all the lands of James Johnson, Deceased, in Lenoir Co., NC; on Fawling (Falling) Creek, July 8, 1813 (see year 1780 above, same property.   1820: Lanie was born c. 1794: Thomas Kea, with family of six, was listed in 1820 Darlington Dist., S.C., US Census; Two Males: one aged &lt 10 yrs [Curtis Ivey]; one aged 26 - &lt 45 yr (c. 1775-1794 [Thomas] ; Four Females: three aged &lt 10 yrs [Mary Ann, Winniford, Nancy]; and one aged 16 - &lt 26 yrs ['Lanie']. The census is dated February 22, 1820.
  1828: Thomas and Elenor Kea witness the Will of Benjamin Skinner, dated June 26, 1828. Thomas Kea, William Mozingo, and Vinson Delk appraise estate of Benjamin Skinner.
  1830: Lenoir Kea, born 1791-1800, recorded in 1830 Federal census, between William Kelley and James Belk.
  1836: Curtis Ivey Kea was named Guardian ad Litem for the minor children of Thomas Kea, Deceased: Nancy, Delilah, James, Zachariah, John W., William, Margaret E., and Thomas, dated March 4, 1836.
  1842: 'When Melissa Shirley was 16, her family left South Carolina in a wagon train; with families: Wingates', Shirleys', Kelleys', Loves', Johnstons', Keys', Herndons', Chanceys', Osteens', Wards', Rallings', and Hudsons'. The Wingates and Hudsons left the wagon train in Georgia, and the remaining families moved to Pike County, Alabama.' [memoirs of Lillie Ruth Wingate McCaskill] Melissa's 2nd marriage was William Key, son of Leonore, in 1860.
  1844: From Sarah Skinner to Nathaniel W Skinner, her grandson, 48 acres on the north side of Falling Creek. [Lenior Co., indenture dated 11/2/1844] Is Sarah's surname Johnson; and a sister of Lanie Kea?

  1851: Curtis Ivey Kea sells 250 acres on Chesterfield Road to his brother-in-law, Kinchen Mozingo on September 9, 1851. This is 3 parcels; his, Lanie's, and Zachariah's. The land bounded by William Kelly, Jarrett Woodham, and McKenzie Mozingo. [Book Q, pp 478]
  1860: Leonore not recorded in census for Sumter or Darlington.
  1860: Kinchen Mozingo, Mary Ann, son James, 28; Thomas, 23; M J, 21; Robert, 18; W W? 27; J L 15; Laney 14; Lorey 10; C J, 9; Clairborne Par., 707 Minden PO; 1860 Census. [Louisiana census states Mary Ann's father was born in North Carolina, and her mother was born in South Carolina.]
  1870: Census for Sumter?
  1873: 'After Thomas died, De Laney did not re-marry, she remained at Sumter, S.C., Shiloh Community, until her death in 1873. She lived with her sister, Suke and her husband, in her final years. Grandfather (Curtis Ivey) and his wife went back to South Carolina in 1873 to visit when she died, she was near age 80.' ('Eleven Generations of Kea,' by 'Lena' Green.)
  1970's: 'Mrs. Lemuel (Nicey Jane Belk) Skinner was a cousin of DeLaney Schonson (Lanie Johnson Kea). [Eleven Generations, page 15]
