  1840's: Curtis' sister, 'Liley,' and John Alexander moved to Henry Co., Alabama after 1840, where his brother James Alexander was, however, they returned to SC in 1849. John was a Methodist minister on the Lamar Circuit.
  1841: Curtis and Gatsey's 4th child, Margaren, is born 1/1841.

  1842: 'When Melissa Shirley was 16, her family left South Carolina in a wagon train; with families: Wingates', Shirleys', Kelleys', Loves', Johnstons', Keys', Herndons', Chanceys', Osteens', Wards', Rallings', and Hudsons'. The Wingates and Hudsons left the wagon train in Georgia, and the remaining families moved to Pike County, Alabama.'   1850: Curtis' brother Thomas, his sister Margaret, or his brother Zachariah was not recorded in the 1850 Dale Co., Alabama census. His sister Margaret moved to Dale Co., Al, before March 1850. Joseph and Margaret (Kea) Evans, married 3/1/1850 in Dale County.
  1851: Curtis and Gatsey's 8th child, Finley, is born 3/1851 in Darlington, South Carolina.
  1851: Curtis sells 250 acres on Chesterfield Road [Darlington County] to his brother-in-law, Kinchen Mozingo on September 9, 1851. Land bounded by William Kelly, Jarrett Woodham, and McKenzie Mozingo. [Book Q, pp 478] [see plat]

  1859: Curtis and Gatsey's 11th child, John W., is born 5/16/1859, in Dale County, Alabama. John Wallace would move to California about 1880 and change his last name to McKea. [John stated he was born in Mobile, Alabama; from 'The Timberman' September, 1940]

  1861: 'In 1861, Curtis was given a commission by the Confederate government (1861-1864) to look after 50 families of men called to serve in the Confederate Army.' ['Eleven Generations']
  1862: Curtis and Gatsey's 12th and last child, Thomas J., is born 6/1862, in Newton, Dale County, Alabama. [Thomas' first child, 'Lena,' would write the 'Eleven Generations of Key/Kea.]
  1867: 'In 1867, Curtis and his family traveled via boat to New Orleans and Monroe, La., and by wagons to Minden, La. With Curtis and his family; Zachary Kea and his family; Winifred and her sons John and William W. and his family; Mary Ann's sons; Thomas; and Leonard Mozingo and his family. Mary Ann lost one child at sea during the trip. There were about 50 men, women, and children in the party.' ['Eleven Generations']
  1867: "Shortly after the civil war, the family left Dale County, Alabama in covered wagons and went to Elba, Alabama. From Elba by boat to New Orleans. From New Orleans to Shreveport, Louisiana by boat on the Red River. The trip took 2 months." Mrs Sarah Emeline Kea Beville, newspaper article from Haynesville News, Haynesville, Louisiana dated Jan 8, 1949. Sarah, daughter of Zachariah Kea, was about 14 years old.
  1870: Curtis recorded in the 1870 Federal census, Claiborne Parish, La., 4 W. Minden, page 128. [FTM CD #319] Curtis, 57; Gatsy, 52; Findley, 19; William, 16; Duncan, 13; John, 10; Jackson, 7; also includes Nicey (Kea) Brown, 24; Wesley, 9; Barto, 6; and Dora (Kea) Camp, 21; p-128, Clairborne Parish, Ward #4, 6/24/1870.
  1873: "(Curtis and Gatsey) went back to (visit) in Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina in 1873, and (Curtis and Aunt Dora) went to visit in 1893." ['Eleven Generations,' Helena 'Lena' Kea Green.]
  1880: Curtis and family recorded in 1880 Webster Parish, Louisiana, 4th Ward; next to son, William L Kea and family, page 229B. [LDS film, electronic]
  1896: 'I was 11 years old when he went away. He took sick with an upset stomach and had a fever. Dad had the Doctor come. He was up and about by Wednesday. He grew worse again Wednesday night. He was gone by Thursday noon.' (Helena 'Lena' Kea Green, on death of her grandfather, Curtis Ivan Kea.) Curtis is buried in Pine Grove Cemetery (9 miles north of Minden, La., on the Lewisville Highway.)
  1967: 'I think Barto Brown, son of Nicey, tore 'Uncle Frank's' home down after he bought (his grandfather's) the Curtis Ivey Kea home place.' [In a 3/6/1967 letter from 'Lena' Green to Thomas E Pipes, Lake Charles, La., 'Lena' states that her only brother, Edwin Franklin, was named after his uncle, Franklin Albright Kea. 'Lena' states that the family never knew Franklin by the name Francis, it was always 'Uncle Frank.'] Note: Thomas Pipes married Ruby Cockrell, a gg grand daughter of Franklin Albright Kea.
  1997: 'Howard Skinner, in his paper on "The Descendents of Benjamin Skinner" shows that Benjamin Skinner, Jr., born sometimes between 1765 and 1774. married Eleanor...... No surname was given, but in a copy of an e-mail letter from a Bob Skinner to a Ken Roberts (part of a pack of letters sent to me by a distant cousin) Bob says he is a descendent of Lemuel Skinner, brother of Edward, and that Lemuel's brother, Benjamin Skinner, Jr., married a Kea, too. He asks, "Do you know of Elenor and Curtis Ivey Kea are related?" Bob Skinner shows that Benjamin Skinner, Jr., and Eleanor Kea married sometime between 1775 and 1784.' [from Garnett Johnson letter to Larry Kea, dated July 29, 1997.]
