Continued: In April 2017 according to the Ancestry DNA project one or more of the Sutherland siblings (my family) appeared to have a high probability of a genetic connection to Edward Daily born 1786 in Pownal, Vermont. Apparently his parents were William Johnson Daily and an unknown first wife since Lydia Knox would have had to be a second wife to William Daily. By February 2020 several DNA matches with Edward Daily's descendants point to the conclusion that Edward Daily and Ebenezer Daily were likely siblings. So far I have not found Daily families in Pownal, VT. Apparently the families of both Edward and Ebenezer were found in Tyringham, MA and Lorain County, Ohio. Descendants of both Ebenezer & Edward married Moons. Ebenezer Daily lived in Ontario Co. NY and Andrew Daily who married Mariah (Sally Mariah) Carpenter was born in NYS according to Census records. The 1810 federal census indicates an Ebenezer DAILY was living in Sodus, Ontario Co. aged 26 to 45, a female 16 to under 26 with a male and female each under age 10. He was not listed in Ontario Co. NY 1800 or 1820, and in fact an Ebenezer was found in Cuyahoga Co. Ohio in 1820. It seems very likely that the Andrew Daily of this family is the same as the one who married Sally Mariah Carpenter. Elyria is close to Avon Twp where the Carpenters and our Andrew Daily lived. Andrew Daily was administrator on the estate of Sister Mercy Daily Keyes husband Samuel Keyes in 1837. An Andrew Daily was the first listed in his father Ebenezer's will. Ebenezer had a son Roswell and the Andrew Daily who married Sally Mariah Carpenter named a son Roswell. There was a Dailey family of Ebenezer and Margaret Bates who had lived in Schodack, NY as early as 1773 when he leased land of the Van Rensselaers. They had 6 known children, one a son Ebenezer (1778-1845) who married Mary Spoor. This Ebenezer had 12 children and had a will in Cooperstown, NY. A typescript book "The Daily Family" was published by Ella Daily Fox in 1939. She traced only the descendants of Ebenezer Daily and Mary Spoor. This Ebenezer Dailey is not our Ebenezer Daily. The early Dailys or Daileys in this country probably came from Northern Ireland or Scotland. The early ones of the name in Ireland were said to be French Huguenots and were likely Protestant. The first Daily or Dailey of record in America was John Daily who settled first in Braintree, Massachusetts, lived for a time in Mendon, MA, and eventually went to Providence, Rhode Island. In June 2019 ThruLines uses Ancestry® trees to suggest that Donald Sutherland may be related to 6 DNA matches through William Johnson Daily. He has a "good" match to Donald R. Daily and lesser matches to the other groups. Edward Daily, likely brother to Ebenezer, had a son Ebenezer Daily.
