Continued: If Levi Crawford of Chenango Co., NY he may be the oldest son of John and Persis (Stowell) Crawford, and then Andrew may not be their son. It is interesting to note, however, that the descendants of Andrew used family names of John, Joseph, and Jane -- names used in John Crawford and Persis Stowell's children. Andrew and Lucy Landers Crawford were enumerated in the town of Masonville, Delaware Co. in 1820 (bordered present towns of Afton and Bainbridge in Chenango Co.). They had a son John. It is likely that John and Andrew Crawford were related. The most likely scenario is that Andrew Crawford is the son of John and Persis (Stowell) Crawford. The Landers and Stowells were both early settlers of Jericho. This makes all these families from the same general area which was settled about 1786, just before or about the same time as Andrew would have been born. It is very possible that the oldest son of John and Persis Crawford was Levi Crawford who signed the 1815 deed conveying land that had been owned first by Hezekiah Stowell and at that time by his children, and would have likely needed to be of age. If Andrew occupies this spot as the oldest son in the family, it would appear to displace Levi as the possible oldest son. One of the younger unnamed sons could not likely be the Levi who signed the deed because they would be too young unless in NY, as in some places one could witness a deed at age 14.. It is likely Levi Crawford is related to John Crawford & Persis Stowell; if not a son, perhaps a brother to John.

Continued: Per researcher Kelsey Jones in 1995, Lucy Landers Crawford has siblings buried in the East Side Cemetery in Afton, NY and other relatives. That is where Persis (Stowell) Crawford, wife of John Crawford is buried with children Abigail and John. Andrew Crawford born 19 Jun 1825 in Windsor, NY is likely not their son, but according to a letter written by Rex Burhyte Crawford of Eota, Minnesota 24 August 1912, this Andrew Crawford was the oldest son of William T. Crawford and Lucretia Burhyte. The family of William T. Crawford went to Wisconsin in 1847.
