Notes
a. Continued:   Persis CRAWFORD was born and lived in Chenango county per census information. Her mother (also named Persis) and two siblings are buried in the East Afton cemetery in Afton, NY which would have been Bainbridge at the time she was born. William died in 1866. In 1870 she and her son Orville PIKE were living with her son Charles in Hancock Co., Iowa. Approximately 1872 she moved to Ellington Township, Iowa where she lived with her daughter Elvira. Her obituary states that "more than fifty years ago she united with the Congregational Church and her life was in such perfect harmony with her professions that none ever questioned her consistency or had a doubt that she was a true Christian. She was possessed of a good heart, kind and gentle disposition and she leaves behind her a name fragrant with the perfume of good deeds as a perennial legacy to her posterity." Funeral services were held at her late residence.
