Notes
a. Note:   ntly found his entry on the same page with his brother William Pike. He apparently came to Colesville in 1813 since on the 1855 NYS census it said he had been there 42 years. According to his father's pension application he was living with his father in 1818. From their placement on two adjoining census pages it appears Hiram, William, Robert and Isaac Hurlburt (where Joseph's widow Sally Parker Pike lived) were close by. Hiram was listed as a farmer in the 1850 census and his land was valued at $1300. The census was the source for all but two (Florette and Frederic) of Hiram Pike and Esther Hurlburt's children. Exact date for the births of Hiram and Esther were taken from the DAR applications of their granddaughters Florence Evelyn Nutting and Margarette M. Pike.
Note:   Hiram Pike's name was not listed in the 1850 census index, but I accide
b. Note:   here in 1800. One of the secondary sources listed his birth place as Vermont.
Note:   Hiram was probably born in Sunderland, Vermont as the family was living t
