Note: ars he worked as an electrician at the shipyards in Bremerton, WA. His cards and notes were examples of creativity and a good sense of humor. He was always a handsome man, even at age 80. As a young man he was popular, charming, and good looking and apparently never lacked for girl friends, at times even dating movie stars. Arthur died in Tacoma where he was hospitalized following a massive stroke. Per his obituary he graduated from Issaquah High School in 1933 where he was an all conference football player. He played on an undefeated Issaquah town team. He lived on Lopez Island in the 1930's. He worked at Todd in Tacoma in World War II and for District 78 RPM records for Capitol in the late 1940's. He married June Conway in 1949. From 1950-1979 he worked at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as electrician, planner, and estimator. He was a writer of limericks, letters to the editor and irreverent stories. Arthur lived for 44 years in Olalla, Washington in a house overlooking Puget Sound where he liked to build with stone and visit with his family. He liked wooden boats, gardening, Husky Football, jazz, and Heidelberg beer. A memorial and party was held in his honor Feb. 25 at the family home. He is survived by wife June, daughters Merrilee Conway, Kathy Fisher, Sally Banfill and son Steve Banfill; sister, Katherine Sutherland and four grandchildren. Remembrances may be given to Virginia V. Foundation. Arthur was married first to Alys Blake, daughter of Norman and Stella Blake on 23 Nov 1937 and secondly to June Leverne Meyer on 22 Jul 1949. With June he had two children Steven Jack Banfill born 6 Aug 1950 and Sally Anne Banfill born 20 Feb 1956. June had two children by first husband Jack Conway -- Merrilee born 3 Jan 1945 and Kathleen born 26 Sep 1946.
