a. Continued:   Donald Sutherland married Jane/Jean Sandison Sutherland 31 Jan 1888. According to Mabel Perrine Sutherland (wife of grandson George) the two Sutherland families were related through the Sutherland and Sandison families. Thomas Sutherland, grandfather of Jane Sandison Sutherland, was brother to Ann Sutherland, grandmother of Donald Sutherland. George Sutherland, father of Donald, was related to Sandisons. Probably his mother was a Sandison. Per Betty Skinner Jane was living in her home in Portland with her daughter Ethel at the time of her death. According to the interment records Jane Sutherland died of cancer. Her husband Donald was not well and was apparently living in a nursing home in Portland, Oregon, but was able to come to his wife's funeral.
b. Continued:   Mabel had indicated she was born in LaCrosse, WI, but I may have misinterpreted.
c. Continued:   Great granddaughter Margaret Ann Sutherland was about 2 to 2 1/2 years old at the time of Jane Sutherland's death.
d. Continued:   Jane was buried in the Park Hill Cemetery in Vancouver, WA in Section E lot 325 no. 2. The funeral home used was the Killingsworth Chapel of Chimes in Portland, Oregon.
e. Continued:   Jane Sutherland and Donald Sutherland were second cousins. They emigrated to the US. The youngest two children (Ethel and Alison) were born in the US.
