I spend last week doing research at the Arkansas History Commission in
Little Rock. I found Civil War pension records for my great grandfather
Squire Henry SCOGGINS. In these records a Manuel SCOGGINS reports
that his brother Squire Henry was 18 in December 1862. The Arkansas
Death Index shows a Imanuel Scoggins died 5/7/1930 in Conway Co. AR.
The Certificate of Death shows his father as Henry SCOGGINS and mother
Cynthia DeeAnna POOLE. His dated of birth as Oct. 28, 1845 and birthplace
as Pickens District South Carolina. Also mentioned in Squire Henry pension
records is that he was from DeKalb county Alabama. I checked the 1860 Census
Alabama Index and found Syntha D. SCOGGINS in Northern Division DeKalb
county Alabama PO Rawlingsville with Icy, Emma, Squire H.,Manuel, Cuida,
Malinda, and Catherine. The 1870 Census T6 R9 Dekalb Co. Alabama PO
Rawlingsville shows Cynthia SCOGGINS, Emanuel, Lucuida, Melinda, and
Catherine.I believe Manuel moved to Conway Arkansas sometime in 1890. I
still have not found any record with Henry SCOGGINS in South Carolina 1850
nor Syntha. I have checked other state but still can find them.
Hope this information is of help.
