He murdered Edward W. Pipkin and fled the country. Bounty issued May 20, 1868. Document on file in GA State Archives Drawer 185, Box 67, "Southern Recorder" Milledgeville GA, Tuesday, May 26, 1868, p. 3 Col. 4. Thomas and a friend who was said to be crippled, were drinking in a tavern when Thomas's friend got into an argument with another patron, I would assume with Edward W. Pipkin. Thomas's friend was getting cut up pretty badly with a knife and Thomas came to his friends aid and shot Edward Pipkin. He then fled to Alabama. It is not known if Thomas abandened every thing in Georgia and left immediately or if he fled some time later. 7 8
He must have been cleared because he showed with his family in the 1880 US Census or at least was not hung

Tellie Morris Lamb was my father-in law and we know he had been married before he married Lula Bell Lee, but we don't know who he was married to or where he was married. I have heard mention of Lucille. You say he (Tellie) married a Askew women.Tellie did have a sister Lovie Lamb that married John Askew.What Askew woman was Lonnie Faircloth married to? I do know that Lonnie Faircloth was married to another one of Tellie's sisters named Georgia Lamb. They are both buried at Pilgrim Home Church, Wicksburg, Ala.If you have any information on the Askew Family please share with us. Thanks, All we know is that Lucille married, had children and died in a tractor accident. The family has lost touch with her children. We don't know who she married.
