Note: Linder Family Association Quarterly Reports Spring 1990 but Lewis M. and Austin A. espoused the Confederate cause after the ordinance of secession had been passed, and served as members in a company of Arkansas Volunteer Infantry. Lewis M. died of measles while at home on a sick furlough, and Austin was mortally wounded at the battle of Helena, Ark, on July 4, 1863, and was taken from the field where he fell by the Federals to a hospital at Memphis and there he died.
