Henry Scoggins and Cynthia DeeAnna Poole are listed as the parents of Imanuel. Email to Mike and Ruthie Crandall sent: Monday, June 26, 2000 I spend last week doing research at the Arkansas History Commission in Little Rock. I found Civil War pension records for my great grandfather Squire Henry SCOGGINS. In these records a Manuel SCOGGINS reports that his brother Squire Henry was 18 in December 1862. The Arkansas Death Index shows a Imanuel Scoggins died 5/7/1930 in Conway Co. AR. The Certificate of Death shows his father as Henry SCOGGINS and mother Cynthia DeeAnna POOLE. His dated of birth as Oct. 28, 1845 and birthplace as Pickens District South Carolina. Also mentioned in Squire Henry pension records is that he was from DeKalb county Alabama. I checked the 1860 Census Alabama Index and found Syntha D. SCOGGINS in Northern Division DeKalb county Alabama PO Rawlingsville with Icy, Emma, Squire H.,Manuel, Cuida, Malinda, and Catherine. The 1870 Census T6 R9 Dekalb Co. Alabama PO Rawlingsville shows Cynthia SCOGGINS, Emanuel, Lucuida, Melinda, and Catherine.I believe Manuel moved to Conway Arkansas sometime in 1890. I still have not found any record with Henry SCOGGINS in South Carolina 1850 nor Syntha. I have checked other state but still can find them. Hope this information is of help. First, I want to apologize for the rather unorganized email--trying to give enough info, data, etc., without writing a book. I have been searching for years for my gg grandmother, Catherine S. Scroggins. I had been only able to find her on he census after her marriage. She was born in 1853 in South Carolina. On every census it always showed her as being born in SC as well as her parents. I have the following info--though, except for 1880, 1900, 1910 & 1920 census records (Catharine after her marriage)and one Alabama marriage bond, a unhelpful death certificate & death notice, family stories--I had heard about the sibling (s) going to OK and stopping by to see Catherine in TX on the way there to see if they were interested. The remembering about Manny and Squire was fairly recently, Dad remembering the mention of he names. . .but could have been someone else. Unfortunately, her death certificate was of no help, just that her Father's name was Scroggins. My father, remembers the mention of Squire and Manny, and some sibling(s) that went to OK to try and get Indian lands around the turn of the century. She married Samuel H. Thomas in Jackson County, AL in 1874, on the bond she is shown as being from GA --has to be where she was residing at the time. The family story goes that Sam (who was a deputy sheriff) had gone to GA to pick up a prisoner and meet Catharine then. Found it interesing that Squire was living in GA around that time-frame. The only problem is tha pesky "R". . .and though she had numerous daughters, not one was named Cynthia. She did name a daughter Malinda. Oh, when I found the 1860 & 1870 census' of Cynthia D. Scoggins family, I ask for a look up for marriages for the Scoggins/Scroggins name. The reply: Samuel Scoggins to Martha Harper, dated Oct. 5 1858. Note: He was living close to Cynthia's family (1860) and was also born in SC. The other marriage was Iceyfuna Scoggins to J.G.B. Luttrell dated Sept. 8, 1859--?? a bond? The marriage never took place? Since she was in the 1860 wih her mother. Thank you very much for taking your time in reading this. Sincerely, Hannah Thomas Wolbrueck Texas ______________________________ There was a Henry Scoggins who worked with Daniel Boone.
