Robert William Pattison's Letter to his daughter
 Date unknown
 1006-5th Miami, Fla.
 Mr. E. F. Cooper
My dear daughter. You ask me questions away back father than I know. My Mother came from Ireland. My father came from England. He ran away and came to the U.S. when he was quite a boy.
My Mother was a King is all I know about her folks. The girls of my fathers childrens names was Sarah & Lizzie. The boy Jim as near as I remember. I don't know his first wife's name. My own sisters name was Mary. She was older than I was. She died when three or four years old. I had a Aunt Betsy King, my Mother's sister. She married John Boatwright. She died without children. Uncle John married a Miss Hamock. She had one child a girl. Her name Ola. She married Saunders Waller. Uncle John married a widow. I don't know her name only Zilfia. She had one child by Uncle John. Uncle John died and she married Samp Davis. She had several children by Davis.
My Father died when he was 85 years old. When he died in October and I was 9 in Nov. He was in two wars here in the United States, the Indian and the civil war.
Excerpt copied from a letter written by Robert William Pattison.
 Dec. the 9th 1915 Wrote Dec. 10th
 "My dear Mary and Johny."
"Just think I was 68 years old the 22 day of last mo."
"Bertie said Mary you wanted to know about my father and mother. Well as best as I can tell you father came from England to this country. Now I don't mean to say he was English or not for I don't know but he was married twice. He met my mother in Georgia. She was 1/2 Irish. She came from Ireland to this country. I had 3 half
sisters when the war broke out but after that I did not never hear from them. I tried to get news of them after I came to Fla. at Macon Georgia Post office but they said it had been years since they received any mail for any one by that name. My father died when I was nine years old and he was 86 years old when he died. It seems you aught to remember your Grma better than I do for I don't remember how old she was when she died."
Life History of Robert William Pattison (son of Robert)
According to family records, Robert William Pattison was born on November 22, 1847. His daughter Mary (Mamie) Pattison recorded that her father was born in Macon, Bibb, Georgia. On the other hand his daughter Telitha Pattison recorded that her father was born in Dallas, Paulding, Georgia. Robert's Parents were Robert Pattison and Martha Annie King. Robert and Martha had two children. The eldest, a daughter named Mary, was burned playing around a bonfire and died at the age of 3 or 4. Robert had been married previously and had three children, Sarah Ann, Elizabeth and James.
The 1850 Paulding, Paulding County, Georgia Census lists the spelling of Pattison
as Patterson. Below is the information gleaned from that census:
Robert Patterson 61 1789 Virginia Shoemaker
 Martha 45 1805 S. Carolina
 Sarah Ann 28 1822 Georgia
 Elizabeth 26 1824 Georgia
 James 23 1827 Georgia Shoemaker
 Robert William 5 1845 Georgia
According to the writings of Mamie Pattison, Martha Annie King left Robert Pattison around 1857. Taking young Robert William with her, she moved to Blakley, Early, Georgia to be near her family. In a letter written in 1915 to Telitha and Mamie, Robert explains different circumstances. He wrote that his Father had died when he was 9 years old. We do not know which of these conflicting stories is correct.
