From Mary Jane Olson Goss on August 28, 2014:
George Boon born in 1814 has an origin which I have not yet been able to crack - although it is supposed he is related to one of the brothers of Daniel Boone - How he became a blacksmith may be a clue - as he would have had to been trained in that trade.
It also is curious, he became so successful so quickly.  He or his wife or both, seemed to have been of some wealth, to have built a house known as the Boon mansion.  It was located on a property which fronted on two streets. The house was located on Ludlow, and the Boon blacksmith and wheel wright shop was located on the block behind.  I assume you know all this? Drexel University acquired the property around 1916, and the house was demolished to build buildings for that institution.
