a. Note:   , he married Mary Taylor, of Royton, near Oldham, where all their nine children were born.
  He learned the art of weaving cloth, which he pursued for some time in England in connection with his farming interests.
  Some time before the demise of his wife, who died at Royton, December 22, 1848 in her 52nd year, he emigrated to the United States in company with his son Jonathan, and after a brief period he returned to England. In 1851 he returned to the United States and settled at Avondale, Delaware County, where he resided for some time, then removing to Cardington, where he spent the remaining years of his life with his children, and passed away November 1, 1868.
  He was interred at Mt Moriah Cemetery in section 7 lot 66 and later moved to Friends Southwestern Burial Ground, Cardington, Upper Darby, PA.
  James Wolfenden was baptised on August 30, 1795 at the Greenacres Independent Chapel in Oldham.
  From Oldham Greenacres Independent (RG4/978) microfilm baptisms 1790 to 1812:
 1795 Aug 30 - James s/o Robert and Peggy Woolfenden of Water head Mill, Ashton, Lancashire. note-other entries give this address as Waterhead Mill, Oldham, Lanc.
  an unconfirmed note: Joan Joseph said that Mildred Wolfenden Minster told her that James' mother was Sarah Butterworth.
