a. Note:   William Cross Jr. (Rev War)
 Born 8/22/1766 in VA & died 1/1848 near Armstrong, MO. He married (1) Sarah McCown in 1791 & had 2 sons in Madison Co., KY. She was born in 1774. She was the daughter of George McCown (b. c1740 VA) & Margaret Kerr (c1752 VA-1836 Neoga, IL). They separated in Madison Co. in 1794. Sarah took George & went to her parents in TN while William took John & went back to VA. He married (2) Mary Eliza Rice on 7/14/1795. She was born 1770 in GA & was living with her son Tolbert in Adair Co., MO in 1850. She was the daughter of John Rice. In 1828 William & his family moved to MO & settled on a farm about 4 miles north of Roanoak. Later he moved to Howard Co., MO living on the farm of his son, John, about 1-1/2 miles south of Armstrong. William died there & is buried in the family cemetery on that farm. He was a blacksmith.
