Notes

Note: He was an inmate of the infirmary in Macon, MO since 1902.
He served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. He supposedly served under Quantrill for a time & was with them at the Lawrence, KS massacre, but left the group shortly therafter. At the end of the War, he went in to surrender, but was shot at & he escaped. Because of this, he never did surrender & he grew a beard that he wore for the rest of his life.
Some records indicate he died in 1903.
