  Austin Waldo Flint was in the coal business with his father, and later the Internal Revenue Service in Washington, DC. After that, he was associated with the National Shawmut Bank of Boston and finally had his own business as a tax consultant.
  Obit:
 Austin W. Flint, 91 of 21 Spring Drive, Paxton, MA, a retired tax consultant, died this morning in Hermitage Nursing Home.
  Born in Manchester, NH, he lived in Newtonville, MA for many years before moving to Paxton in 1960.
  Mr Flint had been employed as a tax accountant for the Shawmut Banks in Boston until 1946. For the next 14 years he was self employed.
  Mr Flint was a former secretary and treasurer of the Newton Lions club.
  His wife was the late Minnie M. (Hutchinson) Flint.
  He leaves two sons Harold H. Flint of Paxton and Clarence E. Flint of East Longmeadow, a daughter Marjorie L., wife of Frank W. Nowell of Greenwich, NY; nine grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
  Funeral Services will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel. The Reverend Peter F. Schneider will officiate. Burrial will be in Hope Cemetery
  Austin Waldo Flint completed four years in the Manchester High School without having been able to select any vocation for which he seemed to be especially fitted. However, on the day after graduation, he was surprised to receive an offer from the Manchester Mirror to join its reportorial staff. Not having anything better in view, he accepted and spent the next four years writing for this sheet and for the Manchester Union, to which he transferred later.
  On October 6, 1897, he was married to Miss Minnie Maude Hutchinson and at about that same time resigned his position to enter the fuel business, in which he was engaged for nearly twenty years.
  At about this time, the passage of the Federal Income Tax law had created a wide spread demand throughout the country for trained accountants, and he decided to take up the study of advanced accounting and commercial law with the intention of becoming a certified public accountant. Later he devoted about a year to the study of Income Tax Law.
  In 1919 he was appointed an auditor in the Internal Revenue Service. After nearly two years in the United States Treasury Department at Washington, he obtained a transfer to the Boston office of the Bureau, being assigned as a Field Agent in the examination of banks and various manufacturing corporations in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. About four years later he resigned from the Government service to become associated with the New York firm of certified public accountants, with a branch office in Manchester, NH.
  The following year he was appointed Assistant Treasurer of the Smith Woolen Manufacturing Company, with mills in Worcester and Milford, Ma where he remained for about three years. Then in 1928, he accepted a position as head of the tax department of the National Shawmut Bank of Boston.
  His first wife died in 1931 and in 1938 he was married to May B. Kerivan of Newton, MA. They resided in Newtonville, Ma. His four children are all married and all live in Worcester.
