Notes
a. Note:   tion that there was a John Heard, Earl of Tyrone. This notion has been soundly refuted. However, the tradition that his name was John crops up rather often. Given there are several Early Heards, coupled with the phoenetic counterpart Earle which could easilybe corrupted to "Earl of" I have dubbed No. 115 Unknown with a name, which is unsubstantiated in known records. Another family ledgend says he was knighted and was The Lord of Kinsdale. The same legend says he came to America in 1720. However, based on records, this man never came to America and was never knighted nor was he a member of royalty.
No.115 Heard of County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, given name unknown, is the first name on a descendancy chart produced by Joyce P. Poole of Evans, GA.
The No. 115 - B 1 and similar numbers associated with various Heards has no particular meaning but is simply a means of quickly identifying individuals in the Heard Chart and a book which was published in 2005. The Heard Chart was created in the years BC (Before Computers). I have retained Poole's numbering system for the convenience of researchers who might refer to Poole's Heard chart. Joyce later (2005) published her work in a book entitley, "A Heard Family Record-Based History." She used a standard genealogy numbering system in her book so the Unknown No. 115 - B 1 indicates he is No. 115 on Poole's Heard Chart and No. 1 in her book.
The work of many Heard researchers was published in "The Heard Journal & Herd Hird, Hurd Too." The Heard Journal was published by Family Tree Helpers, Bellingham, WA and edited by Elsie L. Zarnowitz. Advisors to this publication were John H. Burger, Charles R. CLemson, Harold Heard, and Joyce P. Poole.
I have done my best to accurately enter the data which is in this file, but it should be noted that there were many entry errors (I correct those I find and that are pointed out to me by others). It should also be noted that not all of the relationships are proven.
I have added much data taken from various sources such as the work of Harold Heard as published his "Early Records of Heards" and "Heard Cousins". I have also added much information which has been supplied by other researchers who have stumbled across the file here at the WorldConnect Project, as well as information I have found on the internet. I am grateful for any information provided and try to faithfully enter it into the database and also acknowledge the source/s of the information.
The branch beginning with William Hiram Heard was originally developed by Patsy Melton, Melvin Heard, Lamar White and Martha Mays-Gillespie. The tie in of William Hiram Heard to Poole's chart is tenuous, at best.
I have not personally verified most of the information found in this file. I greatly appreciate any corrections or added information which anyone may be able to provide.
Note:   Tradition and some faulty genealogy research has resulted in the false no
