b. Note:   From email dated 12/19/2000, R. D. Heard to J. W. Heard The William Heard That you refer to as the son of Barnard "Barney" Heard was William Hudson Heard, my great grandfather. His children were Thomas, Benjiman, Matt(female) Mary And Charles Washington Heard, my grandfather. Its my understanding that he was born in Wilkes county, Georgia about 1820, He died in 1864, a Confederate soldier of pneumonia somewhere around Atlanta. His wife was Amanda Dunaway. All of this information is word of mouth from my father and other relatives. A cousin, Russell Slaton, and his daughter, Betty Ann, who live in Washington, Georgia have done extensive research on our ancestry and would have much more information than I.
