Note: ember 5, 1810. He married in Willington, Conn., March 26, 1761, Hannah, daughter of John and Elizabeth Reed. She was born there October 3, 1742, and died in Becket, May 5, 1836. Thomas Chaffee was baptized in the First Congregational Church of Ashford, May 16, 1731. He was of that town in 1758, when he bought of James Bicknell, a fellow townsman, for £75, fifty acres of land, partly in Ashford and partly in Willington. He probably moved to Willington about the time of his marriage, as all but the youngest of his children were born there, and he was of that place September 17, 1783, when he bought of Elijah Carpenter of Becket for £100, one hundred and six acres of land in the latter town, lying east of a pond called " Yoakem Pond," being lot number forty-two in the second division. Soon after he moved with his family to Becket, where on April 3, 1784, he and his wife were admitted to membership in the First Congregational Church by letter from the church in Willington. March 1, 1793, he was chosen with two others to superintend the records of the church. He was a farmer and was known as a kind and Christian neighbor. It is said to have been his custom to take a neighbor's little daughter behind him on his horse, as he and his wife rode to church. Administration was granted on his estate, January 8, 1811, his widow and twelve children being mentioned as his heirs." </line><line /><line>Per Connecticut Town Birth Records, pre-1870 (Barbour Collection): Name: Thomas Chaffee [Thomas Chaffe] Gender: Male Birth Date: 8 Apr 1731 Birth Place: Ashford Parent: Jonathan Parent: Abigail </line><line /><line>Per Connecticut, Town Marriage Records, pre-1870 (Barbour Collection): Name: Hannah Reed [Hannah Read] Marriage Date: 26 Mar 1761 Marriage Place: Willington, Connecticut, USA Spouse: Thomas Chaffee </line><line /><line> Per U.S., Revolutionary War Pension and Bounty-Land Warrant Application Files, 1800-1900: Name: Thomas Chaffee Application State: Connecticut Archive Publication Number: M804 Archive Roll Number: 505 Total Pages in Packet: 1 Per U.S., Newspaper Extractions from the Northeast, 1704-1930: Name: T Chaffee Birth Year: abt 1730 Event: Death Death Date: Abt 1810 Death Place: Becket Age at Death: 80 Newspaper: Columbian Centinel Publication Date: 19 Dec 1810 Publication Place: Massachusetts, USA Call Number: 485704 </line><line /><line> Per Massachusetts, Town and Vital Records, 1620-1988: Name: Thomas Chafee Sr Event Type: Death Birth Date: abt 1730 Death Date: 5 Dec 1810 Death Place: Becket, Massachusetts Death Age: 80 </line><line /><line>Per Abstract of Graves of Revolutionary Patriots: Name: Thomas Chaffee Cemetery: North Becket Location: Becket MA 56 </line><line /><line>Per American Genealogical-Biographical Index (AGBI): Name: Thomas Chaffe Birth Date: 1730 Birthplace: Connecticut Volume: 26 Page Number: 351 Reference: Rolls of Ct.
