  George Fleming Moore
Washington - Ex Chief Justice Moore, of Texas, died in this city this morning of cerebral-apoplexy, aged 61. He was unusally cheerful yesterday, and slept well last night, but was stricken with paralysis of the left side just before arising this morning. The remains have been embalmed and will be taken to Austin for burial. Judge Moore was for years a prominent lawyer in Texas, and during the first year of the late civil war commanded a Texas regiment. He was then elected to the bench and served as Associate Justice and Chief Justice about 18 years. Early in 1882 he resigned the latter office on account of failing health.
