Note: N9096 Nashville Christian Advocate (Nashville, Tennessee), August 5, 1882 Mrs. Martha Meriweather, relict of Maj. James Meriweather (Maj. James Meriweather, the husband of the deceased, was one of the great men of his day - J.B.M), formerly of Georgia, and who died at Denmark, Tenn., in 1853, departed this life at Mineola, Texas, June 20, 1882, in the 95th year of her age. For sixty years she was a member of the Methodist Church, and was well acquainted with many of our distinguished Methodist veterans, who are now with Christ. In the history of Christendom few ever attained to such heights and depths of Christian experience as die she. The writer oft held sweet converse with this mother in Israel, and as oft was astonished and delighted. Oft he felt, as never before, the transcendent riches of gospel grace. In cases like this, human philosophy must hold her peace and don the robes of tongueless silence. With her, life's battles have been fought, the victory won; she has entered her Master's joy. J.A. Stafford Mineola, Texas, June 28, 1882
