  An Old Resident Dies.

 Thomas S. Hand passes away yesterday morning.
  Thomas S. Hand, an old and respected citizen of Floyd County, died at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Harry Brown, at 8:45 a.m. yesterday of old age. He was born in Cape May County, New Jersey, April 10, 1815, , and came to this county when but three years old with his parents, has been a resident of Floyd county ever since. He united with the Presbyterian church when fourteen years of age and has always been an active member until the infirmities of old age compelled him to resign his noble work to others. He was a devoted Christian and was loved and respected by a host of friends.
  He was married to Miss Julia Hunter, March 9th, 1837. His second wife was a Miss Sarah C. Merriwether, whom he married January 27th, 1846. His third was Miss Margerite Nicholson, whom he married Dec. 17th, 1864. He was the father of fifteen children, eight of whom survive him, viz.: two daughters, Mrs. Wm. Calhoun and Mrs. Harry Brown, of North Park, and six sons, Geo. H. and Isaac B. Hand, of Strawn, Texas; James L. Hand, of Louisville and Levi T., John M. and Charles F. Hand, of this city. He also leaves thirty-one living grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
  The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at Mt. Tabor church and the remains will be incurred at Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
