  Death of Mr. Thomas Merriwether.
 Mr. Thomas Merriwether, Sr., died at his home at Mathews' Station at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon.
  He was over eighty years of age, and was one of the earliest settlers of this county. He has a large number of descendants, including grandchildren and great grandchildren.
  He was a man of the highest character and great intelligence, and thoroughly esteemed by all who knew him.
  His funeral takes place on Thursday morning at 10 o'clock, at the old family graveyard near Pike Road.
