a. Note:   N719 Some genealogies state that she married, second, John Lewis. This is unlikely.
  The will of Robert Lewis, dated 1 Sep 1757, confirms that Jane is married to a Meriwether. The land deeds referenced by NHM (p. 429) prove that Thomas was her husband and that his wife was the daughter of Robert Lewis. So from a period before 1757 to at least 1766 or 1767 she was married to Thomas Meriwether. Since most of John Lewis' children were also born in this time period, she is unlikely to be their mother.
