  FORMER POLICE CHIEF'S FUNERAL SET TOMORROW
 Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 10 a.m. for John Malcolm Glass, Los Angeles' seventh Chief of Police, who died Saturday night at the family home, 4782 South Main street, following an illness of about a year. Arrangements for services to be held at the family residence were completed by the Pierce Brothers' Undertaking Company yesterday.
  Records show that Mr. Glass served as police chief for eleven years, retiring from the department in 1900.
  He was born in Tennessee in 1841, and came to California when a young man. He leaves a widow, Mrs. Nora E. Glass, two sons, Albert Glass of Los Angeles, and John A. Glass of Toledo, O., and a daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Robertson of the Main-street address.
  Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

  Left Here Nearly Forty Years Ago, For California
  Held Office Here Six Years
  From Los Angeles, Cal., comes intelligence of the death of John M. Glass, former mayor and city marshal of this city. Mr. Glass served as marshal from 1879 to 1883, when he was elected mayor, serving two years. He is well remembered as having made a very good record in both offices. In politics he was an active Republican.
  Several years after his term as mayor expired, Mr. Glass located in Los Angeles, where he joined the police force in 1889, serving in that department 11 years. During the later part of his service he was chief of police.
  The newspaper account of his death states that he was born in Tennessee 84 years ago, and has been a resident of Los Angeles nearly 40 years.
  He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Nora E. Glass, who is a native of this city, and a daughter of Waller Merriwether, an early time druggist of this city. He is also survived by a daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Robertson of Los Angeles and two sons, Albert Glass of that city, and John A. Glass of Toledo, Ohio.
