Cowles—This gentleman, one of the oldest, and from his prudence and sagacity, most valuable citizens of Montgomery, Alabama, died at his residence on Friday evening last, after a long and distressing illness. Time is the most precious and yet the most brittle jewel we have. It is wj=hat every man bids largely for, when he wants it, but squanders it away when he gets it.
