Michael Carr Northington, Jr., 78, retired Cumberland Electric Membership Corporation Manager, died this morning in Queen City Nursing Home following a four-year illness. He was a resident of the Hazelwood Community of Montgomery County.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday at Tarpley Funeral Home by the Rev. John D. Laida and Rev. Fred Henbree. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Mr. Northington was born September 3, 1889, in Clarksville, son of the late Michael C. Northington, Sr., and Nannie Neblett Northington.
Survivors are his widow, Octavia Meriwether Northington, whom he married July 30, 1916; a sister, Miss Mary Northington, Clarksville; three grandchildren, Michael C. Northington IV; Nancy Neblett Northington, and Nell Meriwether Northington, Clarksville,
He was a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church.
Active pallbearers will be Bob Bellamy, John Dollinger, Peter Askew, J. C. Askew, Jr., R. T. Meriwether, Jr., Walton Smith, Arch Northington, and Charles Nabb. Honorary pallbearers will be H. T. Meriwether, Winfred Durrett, Dr. Charles Pickering, Dr. W. G. Lyle, John Chestnut, Orville Chestnut, P. A. Meriwether, and trustee of C.E.M.C.
