Northington Rites Tuesday
Funeral services for M. C. Northington, Jr., 47, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Bethlehem Methodist Church. The Revs. Fred Hembree and Delwyn Fryer will officiate and burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Mr. Northington died Sunday morning in Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.
He was a lifelong resident of Montgomery County, and was born December 18, 1917, son of M. C. Northington, Sr., and Mrs. Octavia Meriwether Northington.
He was chairman of the Official Board of the St. Bethlehem Methodist Church, a member of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau, the Montgomery Agricultural Committee and the Swine Committee of the Montgomery County Fair and was a director of the Southeastern Duroc Congress.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nancy Shepherd Northington; a son, Michael Northington IV; and two daughters, Nell M. and Nancy N. Northington.
Active pallbearers will be Loew Reding, R. T. Meriwether Jr., Walton N. Smith, Peter Askew, J. C. Asker Jr., Roy Dozier, Orville Chestnut and Arch E. Northington. Honorary pallbearers will be Norman Rawlings, Paul Martin, John Key, Jesse Parchman, Gordon Jenkins, J. B. Ferguson and member of the Board of Stewards of the St. Behlehem Methodist Church.
