 Louise Bridges Witt
John, the second son, and Mattie, youngest daughter, were so closely associated that their lives were interwoven. There was not quite two years difference in their ages, and they and their descendants helped to make Luling a good town. It was Thomas (W.T.) Meriwether who organized the first Sunday School*, and those two (Thomas and John?) and their youngest brother James, put up a grist mill and operated it down on the river. (See "Do You Remember," by Mrs. A. C. Bridges, "A Pioneer Citizen.")
