  Died, at his home near Ellenorah, Friday, December 2nd, Benjamin Franklin Smith, aged 64 (Note: age should be 66 ) years 4 months and 2 days. The funeral was held at the family residence on Sunday the 4th and the remains were buried at Highland Cemetery at 11 a.m.. In his death Gentry loses another of its old settlers and a citizen universally respected. He had been in bad health for a year or two. Deceased resided in Albany for several years with his son, Dr. Geo. W. Smith, and had returned to his home farm near Ellenorah two or three years ago. He was a man of more than ordinary force of character, and was a very quiet and unassuming citizen and one whose loss will be keenly felt in the community where he resided so long."

  B. F. Smith, who had been sick for several weeks, died at his home seven miles north of Albany last Friday, December 2nd, 1898, aged 66 years, 4 months and 2 days. The remains were buried in the Highland Cemetery on Sunday, the funeral services being conducted by Prof. McKenzie of Central Christian College.
  Deceased was born in Casey County, Kentucky, in 1832, and came to Missouri in 1865. He was the father of seven children—five boys and two girls—all of whom are now living. He had been a consistent member of the Christian Church for a number of years. He was an honest and upright man and highly respected by all who knew him, and leaves many relatives and friends to mourn his death.
