Notes
a. Note:   N1043 Frances (Morton) Meriwether Pryor
 © The Meriwether Society, Inc.
Frances was born about 1720 in Richmond County, Virginia, the daughter of John Morton (~1689–~1727) and Mary Mountjoy (~1693–bef 1733).
About 1740 in Virginia, she married Col. Nicholas Meriwether, son of David Meriwether and Anne Holmes, his wife.
Frances and Nicholas had eight known children: Nicholas (1741–1741), John (1743–1743), Reuben (1743–1794), George (1745–1782), Anne (1747–?), Nicholas (1749–1828), Mary (1752–1786) and Frances/Francis (1754–1757). They resided mostly in Goochland county, where most of the children were born and where Nicholas died in 1758.
After the death of Nicholas Meriwether, she married Dr. Samuel Pryor in 1760. They had one son, Samuel, born 12 Jan 1762 in Goochland County. Dr. Pryor died in 1765.
Frances died 7 Jul 1777, most likely in Goochland County. Where she and Dr. Pryor are buried is not known.
Her only son by Dr. Pryor, Samuel Jr., married Salley Drumwright in 1791. It is said they removed to Kentucky, where they had several sons and daughters. She evidently died and he then married Mary Curd (1769–1833). Samuel died Dec 1811 in Kentucky. A son of the second marriage, James (1802–1885), was the judge of the Eighth Circuit Court for the state of Kentucky (abt 1855) and professor of law in the U. of Louisville, Kentucky.
