Note: N19969 Augusta Chronicle (Augusta, GA), 24 January 1914, Saturday MRS. MARY WOOD DEAD; FUNERAL AT AIKEN Was Stricken With Paralysis While Visiting Daughters at Beaufort, S.C. Aiken, S.C., Jan. 23—News of the death of Mrs. Mary Wood, widow of the late Dr. E. J. Wood, of Aiken, at Beaufort, S. C., early this morning, was received here with sorrow, Mrs. Wood being one of the most beloved women of Aiken, where she has always lived. Mrs. Wood was visiting her daughters, Mrs. Emile Lengnick and Mrs. Marion Lengnick, at Beaufort when, last Monday, she was stricken with paralysis, and her many friends here have waited for news from her bedside with the hope that she would recover, but death came at 2 o'clock this morning. Mrs. Wood's remains will be brought to Aiken for interment tomorrow, but the funeral arrangements had not been announced tonight. Mrs. Wood is survived by one son, Mr. W. Elliott Wood, of Jacksonville, Fla.; three daughters, Mrs. J. M. Lengnick and Mrs. E. E. Lengnick, Beaufort, and Mrs. Walter Brigham, of Augusta. Two sisters, Mrs. R. W. McCreary, of Aiken, and Mrs. D. E. Boney, of Yorkville, S. C., and one brother, Mr. J. R. Abercrombie, of Aiken, also survive.

WOOD BURIED AT AIKEN Aiken, S.C., Jan.24.—The remains of Mrs. Mary Wood, who died yesterday at Beaufort, were brought to Aiken this morning, and the funeral was held this afternoon at 4 o'clock at the Methodist Church, Rev. Mr. Dargan officiating. There were many beautiful floral designs, and the services were attended by a large number of friends and relatives of the deceased. The interment was in Bethany Cemetery, the following gentleman acting as pallbearers: Messrs. H. J. Ray, P. F. Henderson, J. B. Salley, J. A. M. Gardner, W. W. Muckenfuss and T. W. Morgan. The honorary pallbearers were Hon. D. S. Henderson, Dr. T. G. Croft, Mr. H. M. Dibble, Mr. John Laird and Dr. B. H. Teague.
