 Died suddenly in Lynchburg at the residence of son-in-law Eldon G. Dawson (widower of CJM's daughter Margaret, who had died 8 Sep 1887).

 This gentleman died last night at the residence of his son-in-law, Mr. E. G. Dawson. He was a resident of Bedford county, but was well and favorably known in this city. He has many friends who will learn of his death with great regret.
