The death of William Meriwether occurred at St. Joseph Hospital yesterday morning at 7 o'clock.
Mr. Meriwether was born and reared in Louisville, and was in his 39th year of age. He was stricken with pneumonia on Tuesday last, and on Saturday morning was removed to the hospital. Mrs. Mary Hawkins, his half sister, arrived from Louisville Saturday night and was at this bedside when he died. His mother, Mrs. George Meriwether, and his brother Charles, of Louisville, arrived last night, and all three of them accompanied the remains to Louisville on the 7 o'clock L. and N. train this morning.
Mr. Meriwether's remains will be buried in Cave Hill Cemetery along with his father and brother, who died some time since. "Bill Meriwether," as he was familiarly called, lived with Judge J.R. Jewell and family in this city for fifteen years, and was greatly beloved by them, as he was considered one of the family.
The deceased was an exceedingly popular man with all who knew him, both white and colored and it is said of him that he never knowingly did anyone and injury. He was a man of most excellent manners, and treated everyone with the profoundest respect. Pease to his ashes.

Death of Wm. Merriwether

A Former Resident of Louisville Expires at Lexington.
News has been received here of the death in Lexington [Ky.] yesterday morning of William Merriwether, until two years ago one of the best known young men in the city. His death was caused by pneumonia. He was the son of the late George Merriwether, a wealthy resident of Jefferson County, and was a brother of Mr. Charles Merriwether, Assistant Cashier of the Falls City Bank. Mr. Merriwether was about forty years old and was unmarried. He had been engaged in business in Lexington for about three years. The remains will be brought to this city, and the funeral will take place at 11:45 o'clock today from the Short Line depot. The interment will be in Cave Hill Cemetery.
