Is listed in the 1820 Census of Wilson County, TN. !ASurvey History of Straightstone Baptist Church 1806-1956 (copy in hands of GAILON McHaney and JAMES R. McHaney) indicates that at meeting 5 July 1806 ANDREW McHaney & JOHN LESTER were chosen as first deacons. JOHN LESTER was also appointed clerk. This ANDREW McHaney might have been the son of TERRY McHaney who hereinafter will be referred to as ANDREW JR. !JAMES R. McHaney has plotted many of the land holdings of MCHANEYS in Pittsylvania County based on recorded Real Estate transactions. !The will of ANDREW is on Reel 192 p 395 Wilson County, TN, Tennessee Archives 1824-1832. In the name of God, Amen. I, Andrew McHaney of the County of Wilson and State of Tennessee, being badly but sound in mind and knowing that I shall not recover from my present affliction and having a wish to dispose of my worldly property in the manner and form following (to wit): First, I will that all my just debts be paid. Second, I give my son William McHaney one cow now in his possession.....bed & furniture to the worth of $15. Third, I will that my personal property containing of household &....furniture of every description, of cart & horse, my stock...to be equally divided between my wife Oney McHaney, my son William McHaney, my daughter Lucy McHaney now Lucy Whitlow, my daughter Polly McHaney now Polly Pemberton, and my daughter Nancy McHaney now Nancy Smith......this 28th day of December 1826. !Following info from Mary Inglis Sims: Ref: ANSEARCHIN' NEWS, Vol 21 Spring Issue #1 - 1974. !ANDREW MC MAHAN REVOLUTIONARY WAR PENSION APPLICATION (Abstracted by Mrs Edwin H. Smith) No. S 38931 Applied from Wilson Co., Tenn on Aug 9, 1820. 10 pages Pensioner is blind and aged about 58. He lives with his two unmarried daughters on his son's land in Wilson Co., 18 miles southeast of Lebanon. Later he says his family consists of only one daughter ages about 22-23 named Polly. (Perhaps one daughter married while he was corresponding about his pension.) !William McMahan, aged 29, is a son of Andrew. William is "otherwise called" William McHaney and is a Baptist. Aug 18, 1819. !Jesse Hadges, aged 65, knew Andrew McMahan in Pittsylvania Co., Va. He was acquainted with Andrew's brothers "known by the name" McMahan." After some time the name became adulterated and the young generation descended from these brothers were frequently called McHaney." Aug 25 1819. !Andrew enlisted in the Revolution from King and Queen Co., VA in the winter of 1776 for 3 years. He served under Capt William Campbell, Col Gibson, Maj Ellison, Col George Baylor, Lt Col Wm Washington. He was in the battles of Monmouth, Guilford, Camden, and Eustace Springs. He holds a note on Ab- ner Watson. He owns 250 acres and negro boy DUK. John Allcorn, Clerk Thomas Stuart, Judge of Circuit Court Theopolus W. Short knows William McMahan-McHaney !Andrew married his 2d wife, Oney Johnson, 9 August 1820 in Wilson County, TN. No children. !According to LDS microfische at the church in FWB,FL. ANDREW AND MARY were married in Cumberland County, VA 16 Nov 1786 !ANDREW has been put in family of DENNIS & FRANCES based on info from JOY TROUT JONES, 13344 W. Southern, Avondale, AZ., 85323. No sources cited. She also indicates that ANDREW married MARY DILLON in Halifax county, VA on Nov 17, 1786 and that his birth date was 1759 rather than 1760.
