Obituary Richard C. Miller, Sr.
Sumrall
Richard C. "Slim" Miller, Sr., 89, of Sumrall died Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Covington County Hospital in Collins. Services will be Friday, January 11, 2013 at 3 p.m. at Hickory Grove Baptist Church followed by burial in Hickory Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Miller was a member, deacon and Sunday school director and teacher at Hickory Grove Baptist Church. He served his country in the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy on Iwo Jima and Okinawa during WWII, and was a devoted father, husband, and grandfather, among many other wonderful things. He was known for his musical talent and retired from Hercules after 31 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanice Miller; his parents, Marion Ance and Sarah Amanda Miller; one sister, June Stuckey; and Granddaughter Amy Carol Miller.
He is survived by two sons, Joseph (Diane) Miller of Sumrall and Richard C. (Beverly) Miller, Jr. of Ethelsville, Ala.; two daughters, Linda M. (Eric T.) Nelson of Mobile, Ala. and Teresa M. (Terry) of Gulfport; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, January 11, 2013 from 1:30 until service time at Moore Funeral Home in Hattiesburg.
