  !John Jackson Ham was noted as a hunter and was not contented for long at a time to be away from his native hills and mountains; was a stout, squarely built man and it has been said that he was not afraid of work. I can remember seeing him, his wife, Martha Ann, and Samuel Robert as late as 1855 at father's home in Rush Co. Indiana. From page 19 of the Ham Manuscript.

Perry Ham was John Ham, better known as "Jackie"; a native of Greenbrier county, Virginia, who married a Miss Woods and migrated to Kentucky in the days of the illustrious Daniel Boone, The mother and two sisters of Jackie Ham were captured by the indians killed and scalped, and their bodies burned in the cabin fireplace."   !12 Feb 1889: Buried in Pine Grove Cemetery. Also known as Dripping Springs (White) Cemetery at the Mouth of Rock Fork off Cranston Road, Rowan Co., Kentucky. Go out 32 from Morehead, KY toward Flemingsburg, KY. Take route 377, which is called the Cranston Road, right off 32. It is about 9 or ten miles on 377 and you turn left onto 799, which is the Rock Fork Road. A short distance up Rock Fork there is a graveled road which turns back to the right and the Cemetery is right there. The graveled road is the second road to the right off 799.
